This is an example of the Reading Comprehension.
The Share Bears
In the heart of a little forest, there lived a family of bears. Mama Bear and Papa Bear had three little cubs called Bobby, Suzy and Danny. The three siblings often quarrelled, fighting over their toys, lollies and pocket money.
“I don’t want to share my toys,” Bobby would say.
“Well, then I won’t share my lollies,” Suzy would reply.
“That’s not fair! No one can borrow any more of my pocket money now,” Danny would say.
One day, the three cubs were told to visit their auntie in a neighbouring forest. As they were packing, Bobby collected all the oranges he could find and made bottles and bottles of orange juice. Suzy knitted many woollen blankets for their journey, while Danny made a dozen sandwiches. The little cubs knew that it would be a three-day journey so they went on their way as soon as they finished packing.
After a few hours of walking, the cubs began to feel thirsty. Danny and Suzy had forgotten to pack drinks so they asked for some of Bobby’s orange juice. Bobby refused to share his juice so the cubs continued walking. As night fell, the forest grew cold. Suzy wrapped herself in her cosy blankets to keep warm. Danny was shivering so he offered Suzy a sandwich in exchange for a blanket. Suzy agreed and so the two went to sleep with full stomachs and cosy blankets. Bobby, however, was too proud to ask for any food or blankets and slept in the cold with only his orange juice.
In the morning, Bobby’s growling stomach woke him from his sleep. Feeling desperate, he decided to let go of his ego and ask for some of Danny’s sandwiches. In return, he offered Danny some orange juice.
Danny gladly shared his sandwiches and then the three cubs happily continued on their journey.

Question 17 of 17
17. Question
Here is a taste of the type of instructions and examples that is part of the Writing Course.
How to Write a Persuasive Text
Question:
School uniforms should be compulsory. Write a persuasive text in response to this statement.
Make sure you read the question carefully before you begin planning your points.
Do you agree with the statement? If you do, list three points about why school uniforms should be compulsory.
If you don’t agree with the statement, list the reasons why school uniforms should not be compulsory.
This sample composition agrees with the statement.
Let’s begin with the introduction:
-Write a sentence that addresses the question and states where you stand on the issue.
-Your second sentence should expand on your first sentence and give more information on the issue.
-State your first reason why school uniforms should or should not be compulsory.
-State your second reason.
-State your third reason.
-End your introduction with a sentence that emphasises your beliefs and points.
School uniforms should be compulsory because they encourage discipline. In Australia, most schools require students to wear uniforms because the dress code represents the school values. Uniforms play an important role in schools because they remove the peer pressure of having to wear expensive, trendy clothes. Students are able to save time because they do not have to pick out a new outfit every morning. Uniforms can also help students from getting lost on excursions because teachers are able to easily identify their students. I strongly believe that school uniforms should be compulsory because they reduce peer pressure, save time and keep students safe.
Now let’s work on the body paragraphs:
Each paragraph should explain one of your reasons for why uniforms should or should not be compulsory.
For this body paragraph sample, we will focus on our first point:
Uniforms reduce the peer pressure of having to wear expensive trendy clothes.
Use the TEEL structure to write your body paragraphs:
Topic sentence
Explanation

Link
-The topic sentence should state your main point.
-Explain your topic sentence. Use 1-3 sentences to expand on your ideas.
-Expand on your ideas to support your point. Use 1-3 sentences to expand on your ideas.
-Write a sentence that links back to your introduction and your overall argument.
Uniforms promote equality because they remove the peer pressure of having to wear expensive, trendy clothes. Students are less likely to compare themselves to their peers because everyone is wearing the same uniform. Uniforms may help reduce bullying and self-esteem issues within schools as they promote unity. They allow students to focus on their education instead of the latest fashions. Schools should make uniforms compulsory because uniforms contribute to a safe learning environment.
Now it’s your turn! Write a persuasive response to the following question.
Should children be allowed to use mobile phones in school?
